Welcome to St Mary's!

St. Mary's - Wavertree At St Mary's, we aim to be a church community that includes and involves all ages, and, in recognition of this, we have been granted the Liverpool Diocesan 'Child Friendly Church Award'. There's even an article about us receiving the award on the Diocesan website - you can read it by clicking 'here'.

Core to our values are inclusion of everyone in a caring community, a deepening experience of God in worship, and a church seeking to find ways of being and proclaiming good news in mission to our neighbourhood and networks.

We’re certainly not the finished article, but are a church on the way with an energy and desire to grow and develop.

We hope that you'll get a flavour of St Mary's from this website, and feel that you want to visit in person some time. Please be assured of a warm welcome and a place for you in a growing community of followers of Christ.

For further information please feel free to use the contacts listed in this site.

Easter Cross...

Easter CrossAs part of our Easter Sunday celebration, members of the congregation added flowers to the plain wooden cross that we put out for Good Friday.  The flowers each hold a special meaning which enabled people to offer a specific prayer as they added their flower to the cross.  The result was a stunning representation of life, highlighting the Resurrection theme of Easter Sunday.  To see more photos click the 'photos' tab on the above menu bar...

Passover...

Passoverafter a powerful and thought-provoking series of reflections throughout Holy Week, we came together for our Passover Seder Meal on Maundy Thursday (5th April) and celebrated Christ as our saviour in the context of a traditional Passover (complete with Hebrew!)  Plenty of leaning to the left while drinking and great singing, not to mention a great lamb hotpot, made it a wonderful evening.  If you want to see more photos from the meal, click on 'photos' in the above menu bar.

debt advice...

Untitled1In partnership with other churches across the area, we have now launched a confidential Debt Advice service with trained advisers offering confidential support for people needing help with debt management or financial budgeting.  The service is a satellite of the highly commended centre of St Andrew's Community Network, which has featured on BBC NorthWest Tonight.  The service is open at St Mary's for people to drop in on Wednesday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm, and Thursday early evenings between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.  Messages requesting appointments can also be left by phoning 0151 733 2637.

still child friendly...

Child Friendly Church awardThree years on from gaining the Child Friendly Church Award, we were re-assessed this week to see if we are maintaining the standards!  The great news is that we are and have been granted the award for another three years.  It's a great encouragement to know that our efforts to fully include children and young people in the life of the church are being recognised, and it's been thrilling to welcome new families with children into the church community over the last year or so.  If you've got young children (or, indeed, if you haven't) come along and give us a try!
