Welcome to St Mary's!

St. Mary's - WavertreeWelcome to our website!  Please look around and feel free to join us Sunday mornings at 10.30 am

At St Mary's, we aim to be a church community that includes and involves all ages, and, in recognition of this, we have been granted the Liverpool Diocesan Child Friendly Church Award for the third time.

For further information please feel free to use the contacts listed in this site. You can also find us on Facebook.

Church Child Friendly Award

This Sunday St Mary's is being presented with the Church Child Friendly Award by the Diocese of Liverpool for the third time.  We believe it is really important to value everyone in our congregation and our children are as much a part of the church as the adults.  Achieving this award is a credit to our children and youth work and I would like to pay tribute to our leaders of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Sunday Club and Youth Club for their dedication to the young people of this area.

Confirmation
We look forward to supporting eight candidates for Confirmation at the Cathedral on Monday 22nd June at 7.30 pm. They will be affirming their faith in God and it is a real opportunity to rejoice with them and their families and to be encouraged as we see their faith deepening.

Inspired

Last week the Wavertree Group of Churches held an Art Exhibition at St Bridget's Church called "Inspired".  It included works by Peter Curran, Richard Hooper and Desmond Ross.  It was open on Friday 5th June from 10.30am-8.00pm and on Saturday 6th June from 10.30am-5.00pm. It was a great success, both in numbers and in the amazing talent that was displayed.  Look out for further exhibitions in the future!

Recently the church was turned into a labyrinth.  To tie in with Ascension Day there was an opportunity to 'go up to heaven'.  The labyrinth had four prayer stations plus the centre - a place to meet Jesus at the cross.  Over 40 adults and children walked through it and had the opportunity for some space with God.

Thanks for your welcome

Motto card 2015

Can I just say a big thank you to everyone for welcoming us in the last few months.  It is so lovely to be with you at St Mary's and to start beginning to recognise names and faces.

Thanks for all you've been doing in the interregnum to keep the church and all the activities going.  Thanks for the food and the fellowship we encountered at my licensing service on 12 October and for your support in our first few weeks.

It's been lovely to begin to share with you in your faith journey and to hear some of your stories.  It's also lovely as we begin to find our way around the parish and meet people on the road.  I've found my way to the sports centre and had a swim in the Olympic-sized pool - wow!  Eric has enjoyed his walks around the parish and the diversity of different roads and lanes.

Mum has enjoyed her outings to Costa (am I allowed to advertise?)  And we can't believe how close it is to the city centre from Wavertree.

We really enjoyed sharing with you in all the Christmas services and thank you for supporting us.  Please do join us during 2015, if you're not a regular worshipper at St Mary's, and you're reading this.

Our motto card for 2015 is above.  Please click on it to open.  I'd like to encourage you to find out how God can bring a sense of newness in your life that will bring hope and purpose and may you know God's blessing in the year ahead.
