Welcome to St Mary's!

St. Mary's - WavertreeWelcome to our website!  If you'd like to join us in person, our regular Sunday service is in church at 10.30am, for all ages.  This is a Communion service each week, except for our Parade Service on the second Sunday of the month.  We also meet at 9.15am on the first Sunday of the month for a quieter, more formal service of Communion.

At St Mary's, we aim to be a church community that includes and involves all ages, and, in recognition of this, we have been granted the Liverpool Diocesan 'Child Friendly Church Award'.

Core to our values are inclusion of everyone in a caring community, a deepening experience of God in worship, and a church seeking to find ways of being and proclaiming good news in mission to our neighbourhood and networks.

We’re certainly not the finished article, but are a church on the way with an energy and desire to grow and develop.

We hope that you'll get a flavour of St Mary's from this website, and feel that you want to visit in person some time. Please be assured of a warm welcome and a place for you in a growing community of followers of Christ.

For further information please feel free to use the contacts listed in this site. You can also find us on Facebook.

Thanks for your welcome

Can I just say a big thank you to everyone for welcoming us in the last month.  It is so lovely to be with you at St Mary's and to start beginning to recognise names and faces.

Thanks for all you've been doing in the interregnum to keep the church and all the activities going.  Thanks for the food and the fellowship we encountered at my licensing service on 12 October and for your support in our first few weeks.

It's been lovely to begin to share with you in your faith journey and to hear some of your stories.  It's also lovely as we begin to find our way around the parish and meet people on the road.  I've found my way to the sports centre and had a swim in the Olympic-sized pool - wow!  Eric has enjoyed his walks around the parish and the diversity of different roads and lanes.

Mum has enjoyed her outings to Costa (am I allowed to advertise?)  And we can't believe how close it is to the city centre from Wavertree.

We're looking forward to sharing with you in all the Christmas activities ahead and in the New Year.  Please do join us, if you're not a regular worshipper at St Mary's, and you're reading this.  Our services over Christmas are:

Sunday 14 December 4 pm          ChristingleChristmas-Baubel-single-171x300

Sunday 21 December 6.30 pm     Carol Service

Christmas Eve 4 pm                     Crib Service

Christmas Eve 11.30 pm              Midnight Holy Communion

Christmas Day 10 am                   Family Holy Communion

Happy Christmas to everyone reading this and may you know God's blessing in the year ahead.

June Asquith, Rector

Goodbye to Elaine

There was  great turnout on Sunday, 27th July as we said our goodbyes to Elaine.

At the end of the service her good friend Gill Stirrup gave us an outline of Elaine's journey to this point. She was then presented with gifts and cards from St Mary's and individuals.

In true St Mary's style we then settled to a bring and share lunch with a buffet that would have happily fed a much larger crowd. This was finished with a brilliant celebration cake made by Jimmy.

Elaine goes with our very best wishes for every happiness and success in the future and our thanks for all she has done for us during her four years with us.

Kendal Society Visit

St Mary's hosted a refreshment stop for The Kendal Civic Society on their visit to Liverpool on 30th July. This was reciprocating a visit made by the Wavertree Society to Kendal last year. Our visitors were most impressed by St Mary's and its hospitality.

Lilyfield Cafe

Lilyfield Cafe, Job Club  and Keep Fit class will continue during the summer on Mondays from 9.30 to 12 noon.
