communion for all...

children_communionOn Easter Sunday (4th April) we'll be welcoming at least 10 children to receive communion for the first time, after Bishop James has given us permission to admit people who have not been confirmed to communion.  After a lengthy consultation in the church, the PCC unanimously decided to move ahead on this important area of welcome, believing that Jesus invites all people to receive from him regardless of age, background, level of understanding, or anything else.  It's also a crucial development in our identity as a child-friendly church.

During Lent we are focussing, in our Sunday worship, on what it means to belong to God as his family, and how this belonging is expressed.  This is all part of preparing for this important moment in the life of St Mary's on Easter Sunday.  Parents of unconfirmed children are being asked to discuss this invitation to receive communion with their children and to decide whether or not this is something they'd like to do. To date (16th Feb) 10 children have said that they would like to begin receiving communion on Easter Sunday, ranging in ages from 3 to 13.

Easter Sunday 2010 is going to be quite a celebration at St Mary's!

for more about this, download the February 2010 parish magazine from the 'downloads' section, and read the 'Vicar's Voice' column on the first page.

deepening faith

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

deepening faith; holding Jesus, and the call to faithfully follow him, as our principal value

building community

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

building community; welcoming, respecting and fully including everyone, and actively supporting one another in discovering our gifts and reaching our full potential

engaging others

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

engaging others; serving the wider community of Wavertree, and the networks we are involved in, by both being and proclaiming good news
