Welcome to St Mary's!

St. Mary's - WavertreeAt St Mary's, we aim to be a church community that includes and involves all ages, and, in recognition of this, we have been granted the Liverpool Diocesan 'Child Friendly Church Award'.  There's even an article about us receiving the award on the Diocesan website - you can read it by clicking 'here'.

Core to our values are inclusion of everyone in a caring community, a deepening experience of God in worship, and a church seeking to find ways of being and proclaiming good news in mission to our neighbourhood and networks.

We’re certainly not the finished article, but are a church on the way with an energy and desire to grow and develop.

We hope that you'll get a flavour of St Mary's from this website, and feel that you want to visit in person some time. Please be assured of a warm welcome and a place for you in a growing community of followers of Christ.

For further information please feel free to use the contacts listed in this site.

communion for all...

children_communionOn Easter Sunday (4th April) we'll be welcoming at least 10 children to receive communion for the first time, after Bishop James has given us permission to admit people who have not been confirmed to communion.  After a lengthy consultation in the church, the PCC unanimously decided to move ahead on this important area of welcome, believing that Jesus invites all people to receive from him regardless of age, background, level of understanding, or anything else.  It's also a crucial development in our identity as a child-friendly church.

bumpsnbabies On Thursday 14th January 2010 we launch a new Bumps & Babies group at St Mary's, in partnership with the NCT. This new group is for all expectant and new parents and their babies, and will be held each Thursday afternoon from 1 – 3pm. It is free to attend and open for people to drop in at any point during the two hours. The aim is to provide a welcoming and relaxed environment in which mums can come and meet other parents and talk about their experiences. Babies are welcome to make themselves comfortable on the mats and blankets whilst the mums enjoy a cuppa and some yummy refreshments.

values postcards...

For the start of the new academic year we've produced a set of three postcards to be distributed around local businesses, libraries and the universities.  Each card picks up one of our core values by posing a question, stating what we are trying to do in response and inviting people to join in.  You can see thumbnails of the fronts of the cards below (click on them for bigger versions!); if you'd like to have a set yourself or could display some locally, contact Malcolm.
