Holy Week Labyrinth

labyrinth logofor Holy Week this year, St Mary's has a Labyrinth for people to visit and walk at various times during the week. The labyrinth is an ancient form of prayer and spiritual contemplation, dating from the 12th century, which is being rediscovered in our present age. As you walk a simple path you are encouraged to reflect on your life, participate in simple activities that focus your thoughts, and engage with God in a new way. If you’ve never walked a labyrinth before this is your chance; if you have then you’ll undoubtedly want to do so again!

This particular Labyrinth has been written specifically for this week at St Mary's, and is based around the theme of brokenness and healing, with the title 'Journey to the Heart of God'.

The church will be open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings during Holy Week (29th March – 1st April) from 8:00-9:30pm for people to walk the labyrinth and reflect on the experience over tea and coffee, in addition to Morning Prayer time (9:15-10:00am) on Monday to Thursday. Come when you can – it will take you around 30 minutes to walk the labyrinth (though some will spend more or less time than this). You might want to come early in the week, as you’ll probably want to do it a second time!

deepening faith

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

deepening faith; holding Jesus, and the call to faithfully follow him, as our principal value

building community

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

building community; welcoming, respecting and fully including everyone, and actively supporting one another in discovering our gifts and reaching our full potential

engaging others

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

engaging others; serving the wider community of Wavertree, and the networks we are involved in, by both being and proclaiming good news
