Rainbows

Rainbow Guides are the youngest section of the Guide Association. Girls start at five and stay until they are seven, when they usually transfer to Brownies. We are also the youngest section; we celebrated our 21st birthday this year. There has been a Rainbows Unit at St Mary’s since 1990.

We meet weekly during term time from 5.15pm to 6.15pm in St Mary’s Church. The meetings are fun, and Rainbows learn many new and interesting things. The girls all decide what type of activities they want to do and what they want to learn about, so they are involved in the decision making process. They will often have things to take home that they have made. As a Unit we try to explore our environment; celebrate special occasions; raise awareness of others; and work towards some of the same badges that our older sisters earn in Brownies and Guides. Each year we have a day trip. This year we went to Underwater Street in Liverpool.

We are very conscious of the well-being and safety of all the girls in the Rainbow Guide Unit, and try to ensure supervision and care at all times. We have three adult leaders and a number of young helpers in the unit.

deepening faith

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

deepening faith; holding Jesus, and the call to faithfully follow him, as our principal value

building community

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

building community; welcoming, respecting and fully including everyone, and actively supporting one another in discovering our gifts and reaching our full potential

engaging others

At the heart of who we are and all that we do, we seek to be…

engaging others; serving the wider community of Wavertree, and the networks we are involved in, by both being and proclaiming good news
